Ruth Tiller was born in New York and grew up and raised her family in Atlanta, Georgia. From an early age, she knew she wanted to write. Although she has written fiction, non-fiction, and plays, poetry is her passion.

Tiller is the author of three children's books: Cinnamon, Mint & Mothballs (Harcourt 1993) which was an Honor book in the Ridgway Award given annually to the best international first-published picture book; Cats Vanish Slowly (Peachtree 1995) for which she won the Georgia Author-of-the-Year Award in juvenile literature; and Wishing (Peachtree 1996) which was given the Award of Excellence by the Southwestern Library Association. Ruth's work has merited starred reviews in Kirkus and Publisher's Weekly (the latter magazine having featured her in a "Flying Starts" column, October 1993).

In addition, Tiller has written the scripts for two CD ROMs, "The Story of Creation" and "Daniel in the Lions' Den" (Little Ark Press/Random House, 1997).

Tiller's work has been published in numerous magazines and literary journals including Modern Maturity, Presbyterian Survey, Lullwater Review, and Chattahoochie Review. She has edited or ghost-written works for businesses, civic associations, and private authors. Additionally, Tiller has read her work at over 200 schools, faculty groups, and libraries throughout the U.S. She has been twice asked to read at the Alliance Theater in Atlanta for an annual event sponsored by the Atlanta Food Bank. She has presented seminars at the University of Georgia, Perimeter College in Atlanta, and the Georgia State Poetry Society.

Tiller now lives and writes in Los Angeles with the encouragement of two 'Siamutts' and a bearded Collie.
